Welcome to the Norfolk Spanish-English Conversation Group!
This group is made up of individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and Spanish & English language levels.
We meet twice a month, every other Thursday, from 6 PM to 8 PM for a language exchange. During these meetings, we speak Spanish for the first hour and English for the second. People of all Spanish/English levels are welcome!
We will meet at different local businesses around Norfolk County to support our community. Locations for each month will be posted here at the beginning of each month.
Our only requirements are:
- A desire to learn and practice English/Spanish.
- A willingness to help others learn and practice English/Spanish.
- A respectful attitude.
We are all learning here, and it’s okay to make mistakes! The goal is to create a safe, low-stress space where everyone can feel comfortable speaking English and Spanish.
Through learning about each other’s languages, countries, and cultures, many of us have formed lasting friendships. We also enjoy spending time together outside our Thursday meetings. Weekend activity-focused meetups are scheduled occasionally, based on group member interests and organizer availability. Please feel free to suggest an activity-focused meetup!
During these weekend meetups, there won’t be an official “Spanish Hour” or “English Hour,” but the unofficial language is usually Spanglish, so you can still practice English and Spanish at any event.
We kindly ask for your commitment—if you confirm your attendance, please make sure to do so and arrive on time. This group is growing quickly, and we’re excited to meet new members!

¡Bienvenidos al Grupo de Conversación Español-Inglés de Norfolk County!
Este grupo está formado por personas de todas las edades, orígenes y niveles de español e inglés.
Nos reunimos dos veces al mes, jueves por medio, de 6 PM a 8 PM para un intercambio de idiomas. Durante estas reuniones, hablamos español la primera hora e inglés la segunda. ¡Personas de todos los niveles de español e inglés son bienvenidas!
Nos reunimos en diferentes negocios locales alrededor de Norfolk County como una forma de apoyar a nuestra comunidad. Las ubicaciones de cada mes se publican aquí al comienzo de cada mes.
Los únicos requisitos son:
- Tener ganas de aprender y practicar inglés/español.
- Estar dispuesto a ayudar a otros a aprender y practicar inglés/español.
- Tener una actitud respetuosa.
¡Todos estamos aprendiendo y cometer errores está bien! El objetivo es crear un espacio seguro y sin presión donde todos puedan sentirse cómodos hablando inglés y español.
A través de aprender sobre los idiomas, países y culturas de los demás, muchos de nosotros hemos formado amistades duraderas. También nos gusta pasar tiempo juntos fuera de nuestras reuniones de los jueves. Las reuniones de fin de semana, enfocadas en actividades, se programan ocasionalmente según los intereses de los miembros y la disponibilidad del organizador. ¡Siéntete libre de sugerir una reunión enfocada en actividades!
Durante estas reuniones de fin de semana, no habrá una “hora oficial de español” ni “hora oficial de inglés”, pero el idioma no oficial suele ser Spanglish, por lo que aún puedes practicar inglés y español en cualquier evento.
